Livin' for Music

An aspiring musician's journey through her crazy life

skinnybutt asked: I stumbled across one of your videos. You're voice is absolutely amazing <3 sooooo beautiful. Don't ever stop singing :)

This message absolutely made my day. Thank you so much for your kind words! They mean the world to me! :)

Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky. Even in times like these, when I don’t know where to go, I have so many good friends and family members calling me every single day to listen to my troubles and lift me up.

Thank you to the person who just called me for the 2nd time in less than 2 weeks and talked to me for an hour. You are so wonderful I can’t stand it. Hearing your voice calms me down instantly and makes me believe everything IS going to be okay. Maybe it’s because you believe in me. I think you are one of the biggest reasons my last year at Berklee went so well, and I hope I can properly thank you one day. But for now, please keep calling me every week. It warms my heart :)

I don’t know whether it’s been the stress of moving or the fact that I can finally cook for myself, but I’ve lost 5 lbs in the last week, and that’s without even really trying. Even though I will have barely enough money for anything each week, I think I’m going to challenge myself to use that money as wisely as I can.

Instead of large quantities of cheap fast food, like a lot of families in a not-so-good financial situation do, I’m going to buy smaller portions of health foods (from my crazy expensive but awesome store).

Today for dinner I had grilled chicken breast with goat cheese and fresh apples, and a side of “It’s Alive” salad which is a vegan salad with sprouts, mushrooms, carrots, and broccoli and I made a fresh juice at work with apples, lemons, kale and strawberries which was amazing. This food is SO good for you, it fills you up, and just makes your body feel a lot better than the shitty stuff.

Mark my words guys, I WILL get back into the shape I used to be in so I can look my best and perform my best

Today was WAY better than I thought it’d be. Woke up at 5am for work and was in the store till past 3:30pm, but I enjoy the work and it didn’t go by too slow.

Then I drove into the city for the Hotel Indigo Writer’s night, not to play, but to check out who was there and hang out with a couple of new friends that run the night. BUT, I got booked for 2 gigs just from meeting people! And hung out with Johnny Garcia (Garth Brook’s guitarist) who gave me his number and will be teaching me some guitar stuff and possibly playing on a few of my songs in the future.

You never know what can happen in this town :)

Our friendship happened so suddenly
From lounge to Pavement breakfasts every week
Eric’s homework late at night
Laughing so hard that we cried
And sketchy T rides down to Carson beach

You left Boston May 13th
The night before, I knew you wouldn’t sleep
I could feel it in my bones
Though I was already at home
You kept me up all night worrying

But keep your head up, pretty girl
Play your songs for us, for the world
One day good will come back to you
‘Cause good comes out of everything you do

I imagine it’ll be hard primarily
Just remember that it’s only been a week
Don’t let it get you down
It’ll all work out somehow
‘Cause you’re exactly where you need to be

Don’t freak out if things go wrong or askew
It’ll happen, ‘cause life likes to screw with us
Breathe it in and exhale slow
Cry if you want, then let it go
But the bravest person I know is still you

And just know when things get rough
It’ll pass soon, just hang tough
I’ll do my best to be there for you

One of my best friends in the world right here. Can’t believe how beautiful this is….

I know it doesn’t look like much, but this desk used to be a box of wood and nails, and I put it together all by myself :)…although it took over 4 hours…
